LINK Arkitektur have completed the design and development of the Froeyland Orstad Church, a modern house of prayer in the small village of Orstad, Norway. The 2100 square meter building has an impressive capacity of 600 seats and accommodates the country’s first baptismal pool. With an appearance inspired by the surrounding landscape, the roof slopes in two directions, fu rther blending in with the rest of the white geometrical shapes, resulting in a diverse composition.

A path with concrete tiles depicting biblical quotes leads the way to the main entrance. The interior is divided in two: “The foyer has a flexible interior configuration which also serves as a communal-area for services, coffee shops, gatherings and more. At the ground level, there is inventory for children and youth activities. An indirect lighting ambiance creates a poetic atmosphere, where at night, the external illumination accentuates the shape of the church“. “Surprisning” is just one of the words that come to mind when looking at these photos. How would you personally describe the project?

Once inside, a potential visitor is welcomed by spacious interiors, filled with natural light and refined design compositions. Except for the wall color, which is constant throughout the residence, no room is similar to the next, each interior having it own well defined personality. Creating a Meaningful Home: Lolly Jane

Creating a Meaningful Home blog series featured on www.sasinteriors.net

Todays guest post for the Creating a Meaningful Home Blog Series is Kelli of Lolly Jane. Welcome Kelli

*******************

Hi SAS readers! Were so excited to be here today with Jenna, we love the idea of this series!! It got me thinking and made me realize how grateful I am for the family that came before me. Im Kelli, one of the twins who runs Lolly Jane! My partner in crime is Kristi but today Ill be writing the post since Im talking about my house. Our DIY/Home Improvement blog is filled with budget friendly ways to spruce up your space!

To me, a meaningful home is like a middle name: its a part of your heritage. My children all carry on middle names of their elders. My baby girl carries on my middle name, Jane, and I hope she thinks about my great-aunt Jane with as many fond memories as I do. My home houses many vintage items handed down to me from family members. Take this mustard yellow buffet, it was my dads grandmothers and it ended up in my parents house. When she remodeled, she passed it down to me since she didnt have room for it. Im so in love with it and use it as my tv stand. I see it daily and am so grateful to own it and hand it down to my kids in the future.

In my craft room, I added storage solutions using my grandparents suitcases. The inside of the yellow one still has an airline t ag inside with my grandmas sweet cursive handwriting. She passed away last year and I love to open the case, smell her house inside and read her handwriting. When we were growing up, she would talk about how nice of handwriting I had and she was proud of my cursive. Im sure she was saying it to be nice but I still smile when she would go on and on about it.

The mason jars in my craft bookcase are also great finds. I live in my childhood home, my parents built a bigger house next door and kept mine as a rental until recently. I was up in the attic when I first moved in and discovered about a hundred of these old mason jars. I only used the matching ones after scrubbing the years of dirt off them. I think of my mom back in h er canning days. She raised 9 children, 13 years apart. Homemade jam and fresh baked bread are a huge part of our childhood. We would often come home to it just out of the ovenmy mom recently told me it was her trick! She said we would sit down and open up about our day, clever!

Use mason jars as ribbon storage in a craft room. Tied bakers twine is a fun touch!

For this vase filler, I used corks from my grandparents home when I helped clean it out just before my grandmothers passing. I was able to give service to her while she was in the hospice by helping my mom organize their property. My grandpa let me keep some of his neat trinkets which I will always treasure.

Easy vase filler, corks! diy vasefiller

Our dining room table was a wedding gift from my in-laws. Although my husband doesnt care how many times I paint it, he said well never replace it.

See that mirror? The original (smaller one) is a gift from Kristi, my twin/blog partner. I added to it to make it larger but love that its from her.

I hope Ive helped you find ways to bring meaning into your home. Come visit us anytime!
XOXO,

kelli

What a great post, thank you Kelli for sharing the ways youve created a meaningful home through incorporating treasures from your past! Surrounding yourself with things that were gifts, unplanned finds, or hand-me-downs helps turn a house into a home.

Creating a Meaningful Home: Lolly Jane

I love the unique style that Kelli and Kristi have! Their blog is one of my favorites to read because its filled with simple, doable, and outside-of-the-box creations. From furniture fixes to DIY creations to kids projects, their home in t he blogosphere is filled with creative goodness. One of their super genius projects was to take an old crib mattress and turn it into a bulletin board

Head on over to Lolly Jane, and give Kelli (and Kristi) a BIG HELLO!

Imagined by designer Arik Levy for Vibia, the projects were assembled by using rods and wires, which transmit a feeling of two-dimensional. The bulbs were subtly added at the bottom of the designs, the overall look inspiring frailty and elegance.

Simplify Gardening with The Gro Project

This post brought to you by Miracle-Gro. All opinions are 100% mine.

Miracle Gro's The Gro Project: Simplifying gardening for a whole new class of gardeners. Gardening can actually be fun and enjoyable!

Ive been known to say once or twice that Ive been dealt a black thumb urban dictionary definition: A wannabe gardener who kills plants. Opposite of green thumb. That kinda sounds like me

Yet, with each Spring that rolls around, I feel the drive and excitement to keep trying in hopes to one day have a gorgeous garden + a bright green gleaming thumb. At the moment, with each sprouting bud, a thought of accomplishment passes through with a little mental, pat-on-the-back. Im doing it!

As the warmer days approach, the time I have to devote to the garden is very little. Thankfully I recently learned about Miracle-GrosThe Gro Project which showcasesfun garden projects that are easy, manageable, and that even a girl with a black thumb can tackle. Yes, thats me!

Miracle Gro's The Gro Project: Simplifying gardening for a whole new class of gardeners. Gardening can actually be fun and enjoyable!

I know youve heard ofMiracle-Gro since they are the leaders in lawn care and landscaping products. They have been working hard to simplify gardening (they must have heard my woes) for a whole new class of gardeners to show that it doesnt have to be complicated and take a huge amount of time. Gardening = fun and enjoyable? YES!

To celebrate the movement of The Gro Project, Im throwing a backyard BBQ. Who doesnt love a par-tay! But before the big day, I have some prep work. Ive been working hard on getting the garden, patio, porch, and deck ready for Summer. And of course, the outdoor spaces involve plenty of new DIY and gardening projects.

Take a look at a few of the projects that Im in the midst ofMiracle Gro's The Gro Project: Simplifying gardening for a whole new class of gardeners. Gardening can actually be fun and enjoyable!

and of course

Other details for the fun backyard BBQ party will include pillows, lights, accessories, and of course good food and drinks! I want to create an inviting, serene, and relaxing outdoor oasis. Like this one that I adore

As Im finishing up the details and putting the final touches on the party which will be in a few weeks (a few projects still need to be worked on), I encourage you to head over and learn more about The Gro Project. Its a great place to ask questions and share gardening successes (and fails).

Mistakes are proof that you are trying - Great Quote

In the meantime, if you are hitting up your local gardening center to start or continue your gardening and planting endevours, check out some of the great planting and feeding products by Miracle-Gro. And remember there is a difference between Garden Soil and Potting Soil. Confession I always used to use just one for pots and the garden. I learned that thats a No-No! There are different nutrients and fertilizers in each kind depending on if the flower / plant is going into the ground or in a pot. To continue long lasting flowers throughout the Spring and Summer season, try out theLiquaFeed All Purpose Plant Food Advance Starter Kit or the Shake n Feed All Purpose Plant Food. You wont go wrong!

Lastly, the Miracle-Gro Pinterest Page is an awesome resource with links to many articles and projects.
