As you saw last week, weve been busy sprucing up the bathrooms for Spring. A few small touches truly make the world of difference. Last week was decor, this week its the faucet in the master bath.
The space got a DIY makeover last year, but at the time being on a tight budget, the existing faucet remained. It was fine and functional, but the style was dated and original to the house. With the BHG crew coming next week (yes, next week, can you believe it?), I thought a little upgrade was due.
So the existing faucet. A one l arge round handled beauty (NOT!)
When it came time to choose a new faucet, I needed to stick with a single hole style versus the faucets that have 3 holes (2 holes for the handles + 1 hole for the spout).
I chose theBoardwalk Spot Resist bath faucet in brushed nickel because it resists fingerprints (even the tiniest, messiest ones that come from the pint sized members of your family!) and water spots. And it really is true no spots! This Moen style also meets WaterSense criteria, which uses 32% less water without sacrificing performance. Sounds heavenly, right?! It is :)
So last weekend, while I was out and about, the Mister started tackling this drab to fab upgrade (he was doing it as a surprise what a guy, right?!)
(hes going to hate that I snapped this photo hehe)
He removed the existing faucet check (not too tough).
Then started to install the new faucet but came to a roadblock when he realized the old pipes were copper and they couldnt be bent to fit the new faucet. Plus the P-Trap that came with the new faucet wasnt exactly the right size. So what does the man do? Goes to L owes of course!
Comes back with (2) 15 flexible braided pipes (1 for hot + 1 for cold).
About 2 minutes later and a few %%$*^**_(_)&*^&^, they werent long enough. Back to Lowes he went.
They love seeing our pretty faces day in and day out right Lowes??
Anyway, third times the charm, he had everything he needed to complete the job.
Plumbing is not our his expertise, but he did a great job. The specific plumbing configuration for this sink is tricky because the plumbing comes from the side of the cabinet instead of from the typical place behind the sink. We needed extra long flexible braided pipes because of the distance 30 long was the right ticket!
All in all, its in, it works, and there are no leaks. I call that a SUCCESS!
And in the end, its a sure beauty (a real beauty no joking this time)
With all the snafoos we had & trips to the store, the project took about 3 hours to complete. Typically though, it should really be under an hour. It all depends on your DIY expertise and experience. In the end, the upgrade was well worth it since now the sink area looks totally gorgeous
Its amazing how a simple upgrade changes the whole look of the room. And I adore that this faucet is spot resistant. Good Job Moen! Want this faucet too? Check your local Lowes, plus Moen on Facebook.
